As an employee at Kmart, I recognized the organization of the garden center including pricing on bulk items (soil, mulch, landscaping stones) in our parking lot didn’t adequately reflect prices and led to customer confusion. I resigned the area using larger, more visible signs that were also more resilient to outside weather conditions. In the process, I updated the book of UPC (product codes used for ringing up items) maintained by the register to ease the burden on employees during checkout.
In addition, I repaired hoses and sprinklers by utilizing store-use supplies to prevent leaks. I also reorganized the hosing system to facilitate watering plants without wasting water through leaky or unused hoses. I accomplished this by utilizing previously un-utilized store-use hose connectors and gaskets found in a storage closet.
